Another Big Cash for Chidwick
Triton Poker Short Deck Cash Game
Racking up his fourth cash of the series was Stephen Chidwick. His sixth-place finish here won him £160,200 and took his earning for the festival to a cool £5,383,800 ($6,538,591). The bulk of that massive haul stemmed from Chidwick’s fourth-place finish in the £1,050,000 Triton Million – A Helping Hand for Charity event won by Aaron Zang.
Frenchman Arnaud Romain made the short journey over The Channel to finish fifth in this tournament for £209,500. All seven of Romain’s recorded cashes have come from Asian events or the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series. Romain locked up $1,503,549 back in May 2019 when he finished third in the Montenegro Short Deck Main Event won by fellow Frenchman Rui Cao.
Another Malaysian in Chin Lim then busted in fourth-place for £271,300 and was joined by fellow countryman Richard Yong in third-place, who netted £357,000. Both Lim and Yong are extremely well-known in the Asian poker market, with Lim being seventh in the Malaysian all-time money list and Yong being second.
Yong’s exit set up a heads-up clash between David Benefield and Xu Liang. It was only a couple of days previous that Benefield found himself in the same position and he got the job done on that occasion, taking down the £25,000 Short Deck Ante-Only event for £650,000. Benefield would ultimately have to settle for second place this time around, a result worth £560,500, leaving Liang to bank the £777,000 top prize and the winner’s trophy.
